The eleven systems of the human body
Integumentary– Skin, hair nails: protect, regulate temperature, eliminate waste, sensation and production of vitamin D
Skeletal- Bones, joints, cartilage: protect and support, provide a base for muscle produces blood cells and stores minerals and lipids.
Muscular- muscle tissue: movement, posture and produces heat
Nervous- Brain, spinalcord, nerves eyes and ears: regulates, detects and interprets changes and causes contractions and secretions.
Endocrine- Hormone producing glands: pineal, hypothalamus, pituiatry, thyroid, adrenals ovaries etc. regulate body activities by releasing hormones.
Cardiovascular- Blood, heart, vessels: pumps blood, carries oxygen and nutrients. gets rid of waste, regulates acid, temp, water to defend against disease and repair cells.
Lymphatic- lymphatic fluid, spleen , thymus, tonsil and immune cells. Returns protein and fluid to blood carrys fat from intestinal to blood houses T and B cells that protect against disease
Respiratory- lungs and airway, bronchial: transfers oxygen from blood to air, regulates acid, produces sound.
Digestive- Mouth, stomach, intestines, anus, includes gall bladder, liver etc: breaks down food so the body can absorb nutrients and eliminates waste
Urinary- Kidney, ureters, bladder: stores and eliminates urine, regulates volume and chemical composition of blood, maintains acid and mineral balance regulates red blood cells.
Reproductive- testes and ovaries, genitals: produces gametes, release hormones, sustain young eg milk production.
