practical exercises
Exercise: sit in meditation with no plan for time, lose yourself completly for the duration, coming to only when you feel complete in your lost.
Exercise: experiment with your mind, sit for one minute in mindfulness observing the speed of your thoughts. Take a 5 minute break then try again. X 3 notice what happens to the ripples, do they expand or contract?
exercise: when you are tense, make a goal to relax for 10 minutes, set your alarm, find a cushion, take it to a quiet and calm place, sit down on the cushion, close your eyes, take several long slow breaths.
exercise: suppose you gave yourself permission to feel frustration. When would be the perfect time and place to feel this?
exercise: set an alarm for 1 minute. In this minute simply observe the mind. How many thoughts do u have in 1 minute.
Exercise: sit for 10 minutes observing your breath but not restricting your thoughts in any way. What happens to your breath when you think certain thoughts?
Exercise: hold your breath as if your breath is the essence of you. Notice what happens when “you” no longer breath….do you cease to exist?
Exercise: observe your breathing without controlling it for 5 minutes like a lion would study a gazelle.
